Canada Lands Company has submitted to the City of Toronto a resubmission of the Downsview West District Plan, zoning by-law, and draft plan of subdivision to support and advance the goals of the Downsview Secondary Plan.
Once approved, the plan will enable 9,250 new homes, with at least 10% affordable housing. It also envisions the transformation of the iconic Depot building into a community hub and regional destination that supports new employment in the district, alongside 4.58 hectares (11.41 acres) of new parks and open space, including the Indigenous Ancestors’ Trail.
The Secondary Plan also anticipates a new elementary school, three daycares, and a community space, all connected by complete streets and greenways designed to expand the tree canopy.
The Downsview West District Plan brings together key features of the broader Downsview vision, including direct access to GO and TTC stations, proximity to Downsview Park, the reuse of the historic Depot building, and connections to future development lands.
