Summary of the Downsview West Development Proposal: 

The staff report recommends approval of the Downsview West District, a mixed-use development made up of 9,250 dwelling units. A total of 10% of the dwelling units will be affordable rental housing. The proposal also includes 3 new parks, new streets and mid-block connections, three childcare facilities, 930 square metres of community space, and a 1,500-metre long Aanikoobijiganag Miikana (Ancestor's Trail) serving pedestrians, cyclists, and other recreational users. The existing Depot building will be retained. 

The City of Toronto has received the first District Plan, Zoning By-law Amendment, and Draft Plan of Subdivision applications for the Wilson District, submitted by Northcrest Developments. The Wilson District is proposed to be a mixed-use neighbourhood with a range of housing, employment opportunities, and community amenities, including: 

• 9,529 homes (10% affordable rental units),
• 13,471 square metres of retail,
• a minimum of 1 elementary school,
• a minimum of 3 daycares,
• a new library,
• a hotel,
• approximately 3.3 hectares of parks and open space, and,
• new community spaces.
