Round 2 engagement for the Downsview West district
Join us over the next few weeks to learn more and share feedback to help share the future neighbourhood at Downsview West District. Canada Lands will be hosting 2 Open House sessions at the Downsview Hub and Virtual Community Meeting – see details below. The same information will be shared at all events. Please join the event(s) that work best for you.
Youth Engagement
We have recruited and hired four local youth to engage other local youth about the Downsview West District. This summer the youth engagement team will be out in the community to share information and get feedback to help us better understand what’s important to youth about Downsview and what they would like to see in the future Downsview West District.

FAQs
Do you have more questions?
How will the District benefit existing communities in the area?
A Community Development Plan for the entire Secondary Plan area will guide future investments in community development in the area, both on lands owned by Canada Lands and by others. We have also engaged with local community representatives’ groups to share information and seek feedback about how the District can have a positive impact, and will continue to facilitate future audience-specific discussions.
How will this district create connections to the surrounding areas?
The District Plan will include a network of a new rail underpass, new streets, greenways, and other open spaces that will connect the many points of interest in and around the District -- with a focus on walking, cycling, transit and green infrastructure.
What local economic opportunities will be created?
Over 6,000 jobs are anticipated to be created in the Downsview West District, once complete (in addition to the construction jobs created during its development). Opportunities for local economic development will be pursued in conjunction with the City, guided by the Community Development Plan for the Secondary Plan area.
