Who we are & what we do
Canada Lands Company (CLC) is a self-financing federal Crown corporation specializing in real estate, development, and attractions management. For nearly 30 years, Canada Lands has led some of the most sought-after real estate developments across the country while overseeing attractions operations in a financially self-sustaining manner. With a goal to enhance communities and maximize contributions to Canadians.
The Company owns over 200 hectares (500 acres) of lands in Downsview which includes the following:
- Downsview Park, which include the lands that encompass the Framework Plan and lands that include educational, recreational and commercial uses. Downsview Park will remain the heart of this area and will not be developed.
- Arbo Downsview, a mixed-use development that will include affordable housing, commercial and retail spaces, a preserved heritage woodlot and other amenities to foster a strong feeling of community.
- Downsview East, part of the Chesswood District; will also be developed to include housing options, community facilities, and repurposed heritage buildings.
- Allen Lands, a portion of the lands will be part of the Downsview East District’s mixed-use development that will create new jobs and housing opportunities for the community.

- Social Impact: Canada Lands Company prides itself on its social impacts in communities – including efforts to enable affordable housing and historic Indigenous partnerships cultivated over many years. Canada Lands has also been recognized as Rainbow Registered by Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) following many efforts to support 2SLGBTQI+ community allyship. Canada Lands seeks to broaden the diversity of engagements providing space for different viewpoints.
- Environmental Sustainability: Another important consideration is environmental sustainability, as Canada Lands works towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions, reducing energy and water consumption, and meeting other environmental goals. The Company’s sustainability objectives aim to address climate change by promoting initiatives and biodiversity.
